چکیده

Hyperglycaemia is common in patients who are admitted to hospital with acute coronary syndrome. In the EuroHeart Survey on diabetes, 22% of people admitted to hospital as emergency cases because of coronary artery disease were found to have undiagnosed diabetes after a glucose tolerance test, with a further 36% found to have impaired glucose tolerance.Hyperglycaemia is a powerful predictor of poorer survival and increased risk of complications while in hospital. Despite this, hyperglycaemia remains under-recognised as a risk factor for acute coronary syndrome and is often untreated. This article summarises the recommendations from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on the management of hyperglycaemia within the first 48 hours of a patient’s admission to hospital for acute coronary syndrome. The impact of hyperglycaemia on morbidity and mortality of acute coronary syndromes and acute myocardial infarction.

BACKGROUND Though diabetes and hyperglycaemia are well known risk factors for morbidity and mortality associated with Coronary Heart Disease, there are no studies published from Pakistan on the impact of non-diabetic hyperglycaemia on these indices. The present study was undertaken to fill the gap in knowledge related to this aspect of hyperglycaemia in Pakistani patients. METHODS We studied ...

Prognostic value of C-Reactive Protein in Acute Coronary Syndromes

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the most common, serious, chronic and life- threatening illnesses in the world. CAD represents a spectrum of conditions, with acute myocardial infarction at one end of it and silent ischemia at the other. There is growing evidence on importance of prognosis of C- reactive protein (CPR) in unstable angina and this protein is a maker of an adve...

Management of stable angina: summary of NICE guidance.

Stable angina is common. In England about 8% of men and 3% of women aged 55-64 years and about 14% of men and 8% of women aged 65-74 years have or have had angina. Stable angina is associated with a low but appreciable risk of acute coronary events and increased mortality. However, evidence exists of inconsistencies in management. This article summarises the most recent recommendations from the...

بررسی سطح پلاسمایی مالون دی آلدئید ، تروپونین قلبیI و پروتئین واکنشگر C در مبتلایان به بیماریهای عروق کرونر حاد

Introduction & Objective: Ischemic injury of endothelium is associated with prostaglandin synthesis and platelet adhesion and aggregation, which may be associated with the release of aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MDA). C-reactive protein and cardiac troponin I have been proposed as diagnostic markers of acute coronary syndromes. In this study, we compared the usefulness of plasma MDA as a ...
